Frequently Asked Questions
Who do I talk to if I want something catered?
Catering can assist you in placing your order at (801) 626-6323 or email Jason Sample, Director of Catering.
How do meal plans work?
Meal plans are comprised of two different forms of payment: meal swipes and dining dollars.
Meal swipes are allotted weekly or per semester and can be used in two different ways: to pay for an all-you-care-to eat meal at The Den or for a “meal transfer” at our retail locations on campus.
Dining dollars work just like cash with the bonus of being tax-free! They can be used to pay for food and other items at any of our dining locations on campus.
You must have your Wildcard with you to all meals and retail transactions. Your Wildcard can only be used by yourself. Meal plans are not transferable and can only be used by the original meal plan holder. You cannot use meal swipes to pay for your friends to eat.
Where can I use Dining Dollars?
Any Shepherd Union restaurant including Einstein Bagels, Waldo's Cheesie Grill, The Den, The Wildcat Room, 626 Marketplace, and Tres Habaneros will accept Dining Dollars. Dining Dollars are also accepted at our locations outside of the Shepherd Union which include Starbucks in Tracy Hall, The Store, and It's a Wrap.
All dining dollars for student plans expire at the end of the spring semester.
Do Dining Dollars carry over from year to year?
They are carried over from the fall to the spring when a new meal plan is purchased in the spring. They are not carried over from year to year, as all dining dollars for student plans expires at the end of the spring semester. They cannot be refunded. They do not expire for faculty/staff members unless you are no longer working at the university.
If I'm not a Resident Hall Student, where do I buy my meal plan?
If you live off-campus, you can purchase a traditional meal plan at the Information Desk in the Shepherd Union or online.
If I am a Resident Hall Student with a meal plan, where can I use meal swipes?
If you live on campus and have a meal plan, you can use your meal swipes at multiple locations, including The Den, our location made for resident diners, Waldo's Cheesie Grill, and others. See the full list of locations here.
How many Meal Swipes do I get and when can I use them?
That depends on the meal plan that you are on. It can be anywhere between 7 to 19 meals per week, unless you are on a block plan. Students are allotted one meal swipe per meal period. The meal periods are as follows;
Monday-Friday
Breakfast: 7am-10am
Lunch: 10am-4:30pm
Dinner: 4:30pm-9:00pm
Saturday and Sunday
Brunch: 11am-1pm
Dinner: 4:30-8:30
Can I see how many meal swipes and dining dollars I have left?
Yes. Simply head to your Weber E-portal, type "wildcat cash" in the search bar and click the drop down. You can also visit any of our dining locations and we can provide you with a print up with your account information.
What do I do if I have allergies or dietary questions or concerns?
We are always available to discuss a personalized program to make sure your dining experience is delicious, nutritious and safe. Visit in person at the Dining Services office in the Shepherd Union or call (801)626-6323 to get started. We would love to meet you and discuss your options.
How can I find out what is being served today?
Can I take food from The Den "to-go"?
