Campus Initiatives
As a guest, it is easy to make smart environmental choices when you dine at a Weber Dining. We know today's college students want to do the right thing for the planet and we also understand you lead busy lives, so your Weber Dining chefs and managers do a lot of the work for you behind the scenes!
From purchasing local seasonal produce whenever possible to reducing inorganic and organic waste, your campus team is dedicated to providing you with an exceptional dining experience that is good for you and good for the planet.
Food Recovery Network
The Food Recovery Network unites students on college campuses to fight food waste and hunger by recovering perishable food that would otherwise go to waste from their campuses and communities and donating it to people in need. The Food Recovery Network is the largest student movement against food waste and hunger and have recovered and donated more than 2 million pounds of food that otherwise would have gone to waste. That's more than 1.8 million meals that's gone to those in need. Our food goes to the Lantern house in Ogden, UT and the Weber Cares Pantry in the Stewart Library.
Choose to Reuse
At Shepherd Union, the 'Choose to Reuse' program allows you to use our reusable takeout containers at our retail locations. The “Choose to Reuse” plastic to-go boxes are sealable and designed to be carried around without leaking. The cost is a one time fee of $7.00. When the used, rinsed out containers are returned to the dining hall, they will be cleaned, sterilized, and put back into circulation. The "Choose to Reuse" container is the only to-go option for The Wildcat Room.
